Junior 1

Ages 7 to 9

Old enough to be challenged. Young enough to love it.

Junior 1 is where the work starts to get real. Children at this age can handle more complexity, more physical challenge, and more honest feedback. We give them all three.

Techniques become more detailed. Partner work becomes more demanding. And for the first time, children in this programme are asked to reflect on how they are performing, not just whether they are having fun.

This is a significant shift. It teaches children that growth requires discomfort. That the point is not to be comfortable, it is to improve. We set clear objectives with each student so they always know what they are working toward and why.

Discipline at this stage is not just about turning up. It is about turning up ready to work. Excellence is not compared to anyone else in the room. It is your child measured against their own potential, which is always higher than they think.

What you will notice at home

A child who responds better to challenge, who does not give up as quickly, and who is starting to hold themselves to their own standard.
